Importance of being concise in your communication
In a dynamic company environment, effective communication is key when interacting with individuals from diverse teams and positions. Regardless of who your interlocutor may be, the primary objective is to ensure that they grasp the intended message.
There will be instances where your interlocutor holds a high-ranking position such as the Chief Product Officer (CPO) or Vice President (VP) of Product. It's important to recognize that these individuals often have limited time to dedicate to reading lengthy texts. Therefore, it becomes crucial to convey information concisely and directly.
For instance, when capturing the company's strategy, outlining a rollout plan for a new feature, or presenting the results of an A/B test, it's common to have a comprehensive document spanning multiple pages. In such cases, it is advisable to begin the document with an executive summary, highlighting the key information and the core points that we want the CPO or VP to be aware of. This summary can consist of four or five bullet points or simple, impactful sentences.
By employing this approach, we can increase the likelihood of the CPO or VP reading our documents attentively and gaining a clear understanding of our strategic initiatives.
